In a speech at a forum organised by the German Marshall Fund in Brussels, the Spanish politician thanked the White House for its efforts to bring Kosovo President Hashim Thaci and his Serbian counterpart, Aleksandar Vuciq, back to the negotiating table.
However, Borrell stressed that the only “dialog structured” between the two sides is the one mediated by the European Union, because, as he stressed, the problem is taking place in the European neighbourhood, the Kosovo clan broadcasts.
The chief of European diplomacy also said the EU “does not compete with the US for a gold medal” in the Balkans.
