An attack provoked by knife to a New York Police Department officer that ended with two other officers injured with firearms and a critical suspect is being investigated as a possible terrorist act, a familiar source with the case suggested to CNN.
Investigators do not believe the alleged actions are linked to an initial protest or robbery throughout the city, the source suggested, broadcast news.
A man “trasely attacked up to two officers in Brooklyn, drew a knife and stabbed an officer in the neck, New York Shea police commissioner said during a press conference.
“An officer was stabbed on the left side of his neck, thank God he's recovering and in a stable state of hospital”, he told reporters early Thursday morning.
About the same time, a uniformed sergeant and a police officer who were “a block or two away from” heard shots and responded to calls, Shea explained.
He described the scene as <x0 caotic” and noted that knives that had been used to attack police were found.
