The European Union (BE) is trying to restore its impact on the process of dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.
The visit of the European Union's special representative for dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, Miroslav Lajcak, is praising as an attempt for the union to get the primat at the end of this process.
Executive director of Platform “Civikos” Donika Amy in an interview for Online Economy said the EU is making the latest effort to restore credibility in dialogue between the two states.
Lajcak's “vision, as if Borell's in Kosovo is the EU's attempt to get back into the process, a process that has run out of hand for two years now, and it is a recent political effort the EU has made to restore itself to the process to restore its credibility as the fasilization of dialogue”.
Among other things, she has said Lajcak in Kosovo is coming to a very bad situation when it is not accepted equally by all state leaders.
“Well is coming into a very bad situation when he himself is not accepted by all heads of state alike, we have President Thaci, who has recently already refused meeting Lajcak, for perhaps even valid reasons because the EU has been asymmetric in relation to Kosovo and Serbia”.
“ ... It is well known that Kosovo has been consistently treated as the smallest partner in the dialogue, less relevant and much attention of Kosovo has been dedicated to Serbia and Serbia's potential to cause conflicts in the region, but very little has been dealt with by Kosovo”.
On the other hand, we also have the visa liberalisation process, which has been a process in which Kosovo has unjustly postponed 10 years and we are still fighting for it and reaching the EU countries' white list, where we can move freely, Amy told EO.
Furthermore, she has said she will not notice any major impact of Lajcak's visit because it is seen as a major US influence on the process.
I don't see any major impact on Lajcak's visit on the other side because it's seen as a huge influence by the United States under way and I don't believe that the force report in this process is symmetrical and clearly Ambassador Green and the current US administration have taken over the process, and it's very likely that they will lead to the end of”.
Lajcak will be expected at separate meetings by head of state Hashim Thaci, Parliament Speaker Vjosa Osmani and government head Avdullah Hoti.
Early in April of this year, Miroslav Lajcak was appointed as EU special representative for Kosovo-Serbia dialogue and other regional issues of the Western Balkans.
