This statement has come as the Center for Disease Control and Prevention has issued instructions on how churches can reopen.
In instructions from this Centre to reopen businesses and other institutions earlier this month, religious objects have not been mentioned.
According to the American daily Washington Post, the lack of such instructions was due to the conservatives close to US Vice President Mike Pence, who has rejected the fact that the government tells religious leaders what to do.
