About 30,000 less pensioners are on the pension lists in Spain in the first four months of this year, as opposed to last year, while the Coronavirus has hit the state hard.
The news has revealed the Spanish Labour Ministry on Tuesday.
In total, 205,638 pensioners have left state fees between January and April this year, according to ministry data.
The ministry attributes this increase to the number of coronary pandemics.
We need to take into account the impact that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the death toll in the general population, and especially on the elderly”, it is said by the ministry.
The total figure was over 30,000 more than the same period in 2019, and 25 thousand more than the mestales between 2015 and 2019, according to Labour Ministry data.
Spain has been one of the worst - hit countries in the region, where some 30,000 people have been registered.
Officials say about 80 percent of the victims have been people aged 70 or older. Statistical records of state pensioners include retired persons, as well as widows or orphans. In general, 90 percent of those who leave the system are retired or widows who die.
