Afghan President Ashraf Ghan welcomed the announcement, and said his soldiers would respect the terms of the ceasefire, writes BBC, translates Periscope.
The three-day ceasefire is expected to boost hope for a long-term reduction in the violence that has swept through this country.
But a similar truce had taken place during the same festival in 2018 but had not continued.
