On 29 April and 30 April 2020, the Fifth Plenara of Kosovo Specialised Chambers Judges has been held.
The Plenarja, which is usually held in The Hague with the physical presence of the judges, was held this year through videoconferencing because of the Padd-19 pandemic, Kosovo reports.
The Office for Communication of this court stresses that despite the difficulties created, judges of Kosovo's Specialised Chambers successfully completed their Annual Plenare and testified that the mayor and judges continue fulfilling their mandate without delay.
“During Plenares the judges unanimously elected Judge Charles Smith III as the new vice president in accordance with Article 32]4 of the Law for Specialised Chambers and the Specialised Prosecutor's Office. In accordance with Article 32]4 of the Law, the deputy head exercises the mayor's duties, in absence of the mayor, or in case the mayor cannot exercise his duties”.
Chief Ekaterina Trendafilova expressed congratulations to Judge Smith and said his choice as deputy chairman is evidence of the confidence he enjoys by Kosovo Specialised Chambers Judges. The chairwoman, Specialised Prosecutor and Administrator informed judges of the latest” developments.
After the removal of the Constitutional Chamber Specialised Court judges from Plenarja, the other judges continued with the assembly and adopted changes of the 30 rules of the Procedure and Evidence Order (Rule). The changes clarify certain provisions and aim at enabling more efficient and effective procedures”.
“In accordance with Article 195) of the Law, the adopted changes of the Order will refer to the Specialised Chamber of the Constitutional Court to ensure their compliance with Chapter II of the Constitution”.
