Richard Green, German ambassador to Berlin, is expected to surrender the post of American ambassador. He is considered strong loyal to the president, Donald Trump, and speculates that he will first support Trump in the electoral campaign. On Sunday, President Trump praised Ambassador Green with high tones for his work as acting co-ordinator of US secret services. “Richard Green is a Superstar”, Trump said in a TV interview. “He did one of the best jobs I've ever seen”
Embassy does not comment reports
The 53-year-old in charge of Kosovo-Serbia dialogue was suddenly called to Washington by Trump to assume the task of secret service co-ordinator, previously performed by Joseph Maguire, whom Trump no longer had a good eye. But on Thursday the Senate confirmed John Ratcliffe as the permanent co-ordinator of 17 secret services.
Since February the American magazine “The Daily Wire” has reported that Grenelli has announced to the White House his intentions of leaving the ambassador's post in Germany. But there has been no official confirmation from either the White House or diplomatic representation in Berlin. The embassy also attended this Sunday.
Greenell's spokeswoman has been told for a German newspaper that she cannot confirm “currently confirms” reporting Richard Green's resignation. No comment is given on the ambassador's plans and trips, said.
Richard Green Lone in Berlin
Richard Green, who has been representing the US for two years in Berlin, has caused disappointment in Germany both in the foreign ministry and in the Chancellor's office because of his direct undiplomatic approach. There was even voices from the opposition to declare it “the unwanted person”.
US Ambassador Grenelli openly threatened German firms with sanctions if they continue to co-operate with Iran. The German military budget, Grenelli, valued it as too small and threatened to evacuate American soldiers from the Federal Republic.
