As he explained the country's reopening plan and the danger this process has for citizens, Albania's prime minister, Edi Rama, spoke about opening borders.
Rama said in “Opion” that in the coming days the government will make a decision to open land borders with Greece, Montenegro, Kosovo and northern Macedonia.
“We are looking at the opening of land borders with Greece and Kosovo, Montenegro and Northern Macedonia, is a difficult decision we will make in the coming days, but will be within May. The two most terrible risks are tourism, which we cannot keep closed and the second is public transportation. For the opening of borders, I have in mind the opening of borders for Albanian citizens, who are on the other side of the border. Of course, the border with Kosovo is the border with another part of Albanian citizens. We can bring more tourists to Albania today than ever before”.
The demands are endless in the countries you mentioned, Hungary, Nordic countries. Is it a question, or should we? It's their governments that say we're ready to support tourists coming here because Albania has the best situation, but the question is whether or not it should. We are aiming for internal tourism or corridors”, Rama said.
