Thousands protested in large German cities against restrictions on public life. In some lands there was an even greater turnout than expected.
In Stutgart, immediately after the start of the rally, the estimated 5,000 participants were reached. Even in Munich, many more people than the number allowed by the 10,000 wanted to go to Theresa, where the famous beer festival (Oktoberfest) is held annually.
But the police had blocked the territory, so the people also first lined up around the protest area until the police scattered them. Protesters were generally peaceable and held to the condition set by Munich City Hall to keep the distance of five feet [1.5 m].
One of the protestors' accusations against the government is the violation of key rights guaranteed under the Founding Law, which, according to some protesters, has been buried. Rallys were held in other German cities, such as Berlin, Stuttgart, Nuremberg, Leipzig, Bremen, and Frankfurt.
The banner saw inscriptions such as “The human dignity is the greatest good, not his health”, “Masks do not help against lies” or “Stop vaculation”. In some places there were anti-demonstrates, where people shouted: “has no right to Nazi propaganda”. While in Hamburg hundreds of people protested against “hygiene rules” and “mandatory x11>, even though vaccines against COVID-19 does not exist yet.
