The Democratic Party of Kosovo has been alarmed by the recent government scandal in the outgoing Kurti over the illegal visit to the Kosovo Telekom surveillance unit by incumbent Prime Minister Albin Kurti, his deputy, Hakki Abazi, and Interior Minister Xhelal Svechla.
At a media conference, the party's deputy, Sejdiu Hoxha, has said that the data of over 1 million Kosovo citizens and their 20-year communications are in the hands of the Vetevendosje Movement, which will now blackmail every Kosovo family and citizen of this country.
And so, The PDK has called on the prosecution to act immediately with investigations and for justice bodies to arrest all senior officials in Telekom who allowed this illegal visit by senior government officials to this room.
This is a full statement:
From the first day of this government, the tendency to conquer every institution and every individual in an unsurpassed way and contrary to the country's laws and Constitution is clearly seen. Even the final decision at midnight last night to organise the protest today by the Dark Government is direct pressure on the Constitutional Court's upcoming decision.
However, serious concern presents the largest scandal so far of this government, such as illegal intervention in the surveillance chamber in Kosovo Telecom.
Kosovo citizens have been worried about the unprecedented, dangerous, illegal and arbitrary action of outgoing Prime Minister Albin Kurti, his deputy, Hakki Abazi and Interior Minister Xhelal Svecla for their illegal entry into the wiretapping chamber at Kosovo Telekom in May this year.
During this illegal and dangerous visit, it has been confirmed that surveillance cameras monitoring the surveillance server room have been shut down for several days. And it is suspected that through these senior government officials, persons of the Vetevendosje Movement have been introduced, who have received all communications, phone calls and messages of Kosovo citizens preserved for 20 years.
Today, unfortunately, all private communications of over 1 million Kosovo men and women over the 20 years of the operation of Kosovo's Vala and Telecom and many families are now in the hands of the Vetevendosje Movement. The move poses a real threat to any Kosovo family, for any citizen, journalist, civil society member or businessman, who can at any time be slandered for various purposes.
So far, over the 20 years as personal data is stored in Kosovo Telecom, any personal or private communication of Kosovo citizens has never emerged from this surveillance centre. The only persons authorised by law to have access to this surveillance room are the State Prosecutor, accompanied by the official responsible for communicating with the Prosecutor within Telekom.
Therefore, it is urgent that, after this scandalous, unprecedented and dangerous act, the justice organs of the Republic of Kosovo, conform to legal responsibilities to accountability and arrest senior Kosovo Telekom officials, board members and Executive Directors who have violated the law and allowed the access of unauthorised persons.
We also call on the Special Prosecutor of the Republic of Kosovo to immediately initiate criminal investigations of this unprecedented, unprecedented, and dangerous violation of Prime Minister Kurti, Deputy Prime Minister Ahaz and Interior Minister Svecla.
