At least 15 people have proved positive coronary because they refused advice to give up the body cleansing ritual in Indonesia.
Relatives attended the funeral of the deceased relative from David-19 a week earlier.
The head of the Sidonio region, Nur Ahmad Syaifud, said the patient's body was wrapped in plastic and placed in wooden coffins before being handed over to relatives.
Relatives and neighbors of the deceased had opened plastic and cleaned their bodies. This was reckless”
The incident prompted the region's authorities to begin tracking into the village, when they discovered 15 people infected with Covid-19.
Syaifud, said Sidonio has had about 40 new cases a day, so mass prayer in mosques has been banned and quick burials of the dead from natural causes, despite tradition.
