It is preceded by the month of Ramadan in which believers fast, giving up food and intimate relations in order to establish equality among people.
The characteristic of Fiter Bajrami's holiday is that people gather on the day they are celebrated to forgive at the mosque and then visit their relatives' families, wishing them little respite.
But all these customs are recommended not to apply this Bajram.
This is because COVID-19 mosques are closed to avoid gatherings and will most likely not open even Sunday when it is the first day of the holiday.
Kosovo mufti Naim Ternava said the same at a meeting with Kosovo National Institute of Public Health Director (IKSHPK), Naser Ramadani and microbiologist Lul Raka.
Mufti Ternava noted that according to expert opinions, conditions have not yet been created to open mosques in the country, and such an act could be a serious threat to the health of believers.
But a small opportunity for opening mosques leaves Kosovo's Islamic Community Secretary Ahmet Sadriu.
Sadriu says the chances of opening mosques are small, but that's not defined.
I can't say yes or no, but in all likelihood there won't be”, he told FactPlus.
Sadriu says primary is the health of believers, so he will most likely respect IKSHP's instructions.
According to him, customs such as visiting relatives at home to wish the holiday, and stretching hands are formalities that should be avoided at this time.
We have congratulated Ramadan and the Great Night, and we will congratulate Bajram since we have practiced at this time of pandemic. It means we're going to run away from contacts and all those formalities. We have respected the decisions, and the decision of the mortore ceremonies is still in effect”, he said.
Asked about the forgiveness of believers in the square who made this gesture as a sign of protest over not opening mosques, Sadriu refused to comment.
While Islamic Studies Professor Jabir Hamiti, questioned by FactePlus, says Namaz of Fiter Bajrami, who has collective character, cannot be forgiven at home and without an imam.
However, Hamiti agrees that the happiness in which the faithful are physically present is just a formality, although the weight is not the same as in the distance and in the vicinity.
It's not a condition for hunger, whether it's religious, that we're present to someone physically, even though it's never the same weight as in the distance and the immediate and direct”, Hamiti said.
As for the prayer in the public of believers as a sign of protest over not opening mosques, Hamiti says the opening should only be done when considered reasonable by institutions.
“Saving health for priorities and order is ahead of religious obligation. Opening public and collective places should happen only after the National Health Institute's decision”, he says.
The pandemic we are facing as a result of the spread of Coronavirus, this time has also changed Muslim centuries-old traditions for Ramadan, as mosques have been closed and stops for prayers of some people together.
In fact, on March 14th the Islamic Community of Kosovo (BIK) made a decision to suspend the prayer of mosques. So did holding different lectures, seminars, and meetings. The suspension of all gatherings on the occasion of condolences, paames was also recommended, and burial ceremonies were recommended to be organized into a closer family circle.
Taking into account the latest data, in Kosovo with Coronavirus a total of 1003 people have been infected, while the number of healed persons has reached 772, while there are 29 people who have died as a result of Ovid 19, writes FactePlus.
