Regional authorities are planning to replace restrictive measures with recommendations and take stricter measures at the local level if necessary.
If implemented, this plan would present the largest isolation evacuation in Europe, compared to Sweden's, writes “Daily Mail”, Report Express broadcast.
However, the move has been criticised by some German officials, who have said it is a dangerous and reckless experiment.
Thunging has so far marked only 2,871 cases of infection and 152 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic, making it one of the most affected regions of the new virus.
Regional Prime Minister Bodo Ramelow said restrictive measures would be replaced with a concept of recommendations and the fight of the virus locally if the number of cases increases.
Under the new rules, the use of masks will not be mandatory, while distance of 1m and a half will be only recommended, but not mandatory.
This region has already re-opened hotels and restaurants, and new regulations would enable local authorities to set the rules for measures against pandemic itself.
