The zoo in Canada's town of Calgary has decided to return two giant pandas to China because there are not enough bamboo, which is the basic food for these cute barivorous ones.
The zoo management explained in a statement that prior to the beginning of the pandemic, bamboo had been imported from China, but the suspension of air traffic completely interrupted supply.
Giant pandas feed almost exclusively on fresh bamboo, and an animal eats about 40 pounds [40 kg] a day.
“We are convinced that the best and safest place for our pandas at this time is unprecedented, where bamboo grows in large quantities,” said Calgary Zoo manager Clement Lantie, the Kosovas Prees broadcast.
