A father and his son have been arrested and charged in the U.S. state, Georgia, for the murder of Ahmad Arbery, a colored runner who has been unarmed.
Gregory McMichael, 64-year-old and Travis McMichael, 34, have been detained by the state Bureau of Investigation on Thursday.
They have been charged with murder and serious assault, investigators have said in a statement.
Arbery, 25, has been running in February when he faced the two men.
Failure to press charges against them, which are white, weeks after the incident, had sparked great public outrage.
The Bureau of Investigation said both men shot Arbery with firearms, until he was the young McMichles who left him dead.
The victim's father, told of the PBS channel on Thursday that his son only exercised in the area and lived with his mother.
I don't know why they report to his race”, he said, because according to him, the “heads what he did have been caring for his body, because he had dreams”
Asked if there are assumptions that his son might be involved in any theft, Arbery said all claims are “lies”.
