In recent weeks some countries have reported cases of children with symptoms similar to those of Kawasaki.
The first reports suggest that this syndrome may be linked to COVIID-1950, WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebrrees said at a virtual conference.
“It is essential that this clinical syndrome be conveyed urgently and carefully, to understand the cause and describe the interventions in treatment”, he said.
Tedros made his comments after a doctor in France said Friday that a nine-year-old boy there, who has proved positive for COVID-19, died of syndrome, marking the first such death in this country.
Similar deaths of children are being investigated in New York and London.
