Azem: About 100 thousand workers will remain without jobs in late June

The situation of private sector workers continues to be serious. May 1, though it was marked with protests each year, this time it has been incapacitated because of the coronary. By the Private Sector Union, they are saying that in late June, about 100,000 workers will lose their jobs. [...]
At a media conference, Yusuf Azemi, who is chairman of this union, said the state of Kosovo has failed to secure the average salary of 250 euros. He appealed that the private sector be turned into a meritive attention.
We appeal even in this difficult time to get the private sector back to the attention it deserves because now the workers in this sector are not struggling to get wages, but they're fighting for their existence because they're all left behind and now they're unemployed, they're without contracts and they're without institutional support. As often as we, the government claims that we will be supporters of this category, so far we have not seen. And normally we'll continue to follow the situation. From this situation what we are and from the situation that competent institutions are not even thinking about how to get out of this situation, we certainly will eventually July have over 100,000 lost jobs”, Azemi said.
Workers most affected by this situation, Azemi said it would be those of construction, gastronomy and physical insurance. Azem asked the government to put all the workers in the emergency package. According to him, the Kosovo government during this period has made three mistakes.
Meanwhile, he has reiterated that wages should be leveled between the private sector and the public sector.
We've been against paying workers at drugs, minimarkets and various ovens. While the drugs have been working non-stop, while the minimarkets have had a very large circulation and bakers. We're about stimulating workers because for them we work, but this stimulus had to come from the owners of companies themselves, from the bakers who had a very large circulation, from the drugs themselves. So why this is a burden on the government, when these tools could be distributed to social cases that would have a lot of frustration in concluding this fiscal package”, Azemi added.
Azem today will meet with Economy Minister Roseta Hajdari to discuss the situation. The latter will also have a news conference at 2: 00 a.m.
In many parts of the world, worker day is a holiday celebrated on May 1st of each year, aimed at remembering the engagement of union movements and the economic-Social view of workers.
