In Albania, Prime Minister Edi Rama said today that after May 18th, the possibility of opening borders, both land and air, will be seen as part of easing austerity measures taken to curb the spread of the coronary.
Mr. Rama made these comments during a video conference with members of the Experts Technical Committee. Although an increase in new cases has been observed last week, health authorities said they remain in figures that are below the average of their expectations for the situation when the ease of restrictions has begun.
In the last 24 hours, 10 new cases were recorded in four different areas of the country, bringing the number of affected to 842. Meanwhile, the figures of healed persons, nearly 72 per cent of the total, continue to rise. Almost the same levels remain, with 38 patients from whom 7 are in intensive therapy.
As the country moves forward with gradual lifting of restrictions, experts stress the need for insimibilisation campaigns with citizens so that there is no bypassing hygiene and physical and social distance rules.
