Kosovo Democratic Party Chairman Kadri Veselini has remembered today the battle of Kacanik and the entire uprising of Albanians in 1910. He wrote that the battle in Kacanik, 110 years ago, and all rebellion, have paved the way for the proclamation of independence in 1912.
According to Wessel, it is no coincidence that Kosovo Assembly delegates have gathered in Kacanik to announce the Kacanik constitutional declaration in September 1990.
The “Gryka of Kacanik and the people of this area have a glorious war tradition starting with the revolt against the Ottomans led by Peter Bogdani alongside the Austrians in 1690, the rebellion led by Dervis Cara in 1844, the war under the League of Prizren in 1870, the previous battle against the Serb conqueror in 1913 to arrive in modern times with the recent war of April 9, 1999, where 28 KLA martyrs gave their lives. It is no coincidence that Kosovo Assembly delegates here found safe havens to gather and proclaim the Constitutional Declaration of Kacanik on September 07th of 1990,”, wrote among other things Wessel.
