Former President Hugo Chavez's cousin has taken the lead in the state oil company, even though there is great lack of it.
US sanctions have made it difficult to import Venezuela's night, while its price has continued to rise within the state, broadcasts KOHA.
El Aisami replaces Manuel Quevedon, general of the national army, but has no experience in the oil industry.
In March, the American Department of Justice accused El Aissam and 14 Venezuelan officials of narcotics, corruption and drug trafficking.
Furthermore, the US has offered a $10 million reward for any information it may lead to the arrest of the new oil minister.
