Survey published: What scares the Germans of the coronary crisis?

Germans mainly worry about the economy, but not so much about their health. This is the most important result of some polls concerning fears in the Corona crisis. What scares the Germans of Corona's crisis? The insurance company R+ V presented the latest survey. The poll's result was surprising to Heidelberg's politician, Manfred Schmidt. He's been researching the insurance company for 15 years.
Besides the added fear that the economic downturn could deepen, the Germans are currently quite calm to their health and work. “They seem surprisingly redeemed or quiet,” says Schmidt.
A little fear of infection
The one who believes the Germans are very concerned about their health is wrong. Compared to 2019, fear of a serious illness has increased by only six percentage points, from 35 percent to 41 percent. This is the second lowest value since 1992, the lowest was last year.
This is sensational news. It really surprised me”, Schmidt says. “This is about a strange belief that you will not have health problems yourself and that the danger is elsewhere.” However, the scientist admits that the silent structure of the respondents may have played a role. This is where the question was posed to all age groups.
Since the mass outbreak of pandemic, the Infrast-dimp think institute had achieved slightly different results on the question of the trend in Germany. At that time, more than half of Germans (51%) express fear that they could themselves be infected with the virus or their family members.
Close recession
In all studies, however, there is a growing concern for an economic downturn. In R+ V study, compared to 2019, we have spectacular growth of 23 per cent to 58 per cent. Fear of recession, however, does not run parallel with fears of losing the job.
Only a quarter of those questioned are concerned about their work as much as in 2019 and a total of less than 30 years. For Schmidt, this has much to do with measures such as measures for short-term work and other government financing. Schmidt believes that most Germans view this as useful and soothing.
However, all poll institutions agree on one thing: In the eyes of the Germans, the government does a good job in crisis and is praised for it. This is also the result of the current R+ V study. In the past ten years, almost half of respondents thought politicians are overloaded in principle by crises.
During the financial crisis in 2010 (62 percent) and the refugee crisis in 2016 (65 percent) were almost two thirds.
In comparison, says Manfred Schmidt, the German judgment in the Corona crisis for politics is quite mild. According to the latest survey, only 46 per cent of Germans think politicians are overloaded. This is one of the lowest values in the last ten years. / DW/
