China's “Government lied to the world about the danger and infectious nature of COVID-19, which causes Coronavirus, and did little to prevent its spread”, Missouri General Prosecutor Eric Schmitt said.
“Kina should be held responsible for her actions”, he added.
The indictment calls for compensation for lives lost, human suffering and economic turmoil that took place in the state of Missouri.
China strongly denies crisis failure.
The first coronavirus cases there appeared at the end of last year, and then spread throughout the world.
Over 2.5 million people have been affected by the Coronavirus, and over 177,000 have died.
The United States has the largest number of infected, over 825,000, and the victims, over 45,000.
