The country's president, Hashim Thaci, today through a letter to Vetevendosje Chairman Albin Kurti, has again asked him to propose the new candidate for prime minister to form the new government, following the motion of no confidence in his government.
Thaci has told Kurti that he is awaiting his response in the request he submitted on April 2, 2020 to propose the candidate for prime minister and form the Government of the Republic of Kosovo.
“Sic knows, following the no-confidence motion against the government of 2503.20, I have held consultative meetings with all political parties represented in the Assembly to assess whether it is in the interest of political parties forming the new government or distributing the Assembly. Most political parties have been declared to be for forming the new government. In this direction, considering the actions mentioned above, I have given you the opportunity for Vetevendosje Movement to propose candidate for prime minister. Citizens of the Republic of Kosovo and political parties represented in the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo rightly expect the functioning of the new government and expect me to decree the candidate/reposed for Prime Minister”, writes Thaci's letter to Kurti.
In this official letter, Thaci has once reminded Kurt that his constitutional mandate obliges him to ensure the democratic functioning of the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, including ensuring the appointment of the new candidate/re for prime minister to form the Government of the Republic of Kosovo.
He has said that as president of the Republic of Kosovo, he will take this move, following all constitutional steps for citizens of the Republic of Kosovo to have their new government as soon as possible.
