Since obesity is a risk factor for cardiovascular disease, researchers have studied to determine whether the consumption of nuts reduces the risk of overweight and metabolic syndrome.
In 1998, an ongoing study of food consumption by individuals conducted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture compared the body mass index from ha-arra and non-arra, reports “alnativemedicine”.
This study showed that young and adult eaters had a low body mass index. A study conducted at Loma Linda University also concluded that there is a considerable and similar reduction in the risk of cardiovascular disease for individuals who consume nuts more than 5 times a week.
In particular, this study showed that people who had consumed nuts 4-5 times a week compared to those who did it 1 or less times a week had a 30-50 per cent reduced risk of coronary heart disease.
Moreover, nut consumption has been associated with a lower incisor of metabolic syndrome, a group of multiple metabolic risk factors, shown to be associated with diabetes and cardiovascular diseases.
And in 2014 a study by Loma Linda California concluded that a 28g - tree - nut service a week was significantly accompanied by 7 percent less metabolic syndrome. /ln
