10 Kosovo citizens living in various countries of the world have died of Coronavirus.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspore (MPJD) has announced that ten Kosovo citizens living in the diaspora have died as a result of the Coronavirus, 42 of which are affected.
The Ministry's Office for Media confirmed the news.
The MPJD in a written response to Online Economy has said that the embassies and Consulates of the Republic of Kosovo, in addition to understanding agreements with the governments of the municipal countries to continue residence permits for all Kosovo citizens, after registering emergency cases, have made efforts to collect even data for our citizens who have been affected by corruption.
“According to data collected by our diplomatic missions, so far by the COVID-19 virus, 42 persons who are Kosovo citizens have been infected or also hold citizenship of the Republic of Kosovo”.
“Of these infected, 10 people have passed away, and according to family members most victims have suffered from other chronic diseases, mainly diabetes or respiratory problems”, it was said in the answer of the MPJD.
They have suggested that these data have been collected from the requirements for documentation that victims' families in the Kosovo Embassy or Consulate have made.
“These data are unofficial, because public health institutions preserve citizens' privacy and do not provide such personal data, ethnic affiliation or patient origin”.
“These data have been collected from requests for documentation that the victims' families in our embassy or Consulates have made, as well as from the contacts our diplomats have with fellow countrymen and association representatives in the Diaspora”, is said in the MPJD's response to Online Economics.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora expressed condolences to the families of the victims of COVID-19 and has invited all fellow countrymen to continue with caution and patience until this difficult situation for all mankind.
