KDI is urging the Vetevendosje Movement to hold consultations as the election winner with other political subjects for connecting the new coalition and to set within a timeline the new mandater to form Government.
Kosovo's “Democratic Institute (KDI) estimates that after four correspondences between the president and Vetevendosje Movement as the winner subject of elections in the last three weeks, the latter should quickly exercise the right to submit the mandate's name for forming the government. Consequently, we call on the Vetevendosje Movement, which as the winner of the elections, to hold consultations with other political subjects for new coalition connections and assign within a timeline the new mandater to form Government”, the KDI emphasis.
And so, KDI says that if LVV does not have the political will to send the name of a mandate for forming the new government, it can exercise the right to reject the mandate, as is envisioned in the Constitutional Court's 2014 act of judgment.
Although our Constitution does not set the deadline for the mandate proposal, we consider that any delay in exploiting this constitutional provision could take the country into institutional and constitutional coherence, and would affect the principle of the country's institutional stability, enabling the Parliament to exercise its competencies in the government's election. We appreciate that institutional stability is the value that should be promoted by all political subjects in Kosovo, in line with civic legitimacy”, the KDICE communiqué says.
