Italy registers lowest number of daily deaths for more than two weeks

The death toll from COVID-19 increased by 525 to 15,887, the lowest number of victims reported in one day by the civil protection service since 427 registered on 19 March.

There were 3,977 people in intensive care -- a drop of 17 from 3,994 on Friday -- when officials reported the first drop in intensive care numbers since the outbreak of the outbreak in the country's north in late February.
