The global corruption gap will spur the worst economic crisis from the Great Depression of 1929-1933, and mass recovery responses will be required, the International Monetary Fund has warned.
IMF chief Kristalina Georgieva has said that the <x0 global achievement will be negatively reduced in 2020”, as 170 of the 180 member states of this organisation have reported a drop in per capita income.
“Actually, we can face the worst economic crisis from the Great Depression”, Georgieva said at a news conference in Washington, prior to next week's meeting of the IMF and World Bank.
These meetings will be held virtually due to restrictions imposed due to the Devid-19 disease.
Georgieva has said that there is currently “the extraordinary argument” and that the situation with the pandemic “could deteriorate”.
According to the IMF, a <x0 partial recovery” could happen last year, if the forecasts for the virus fade later in the year are correct, REL reports.
Georgieva has called on governments to do more to offer <x0 long-term” for businesses.
This organisation will publish the forecast report for the member states' economy this year and next April 14th.
