After two months of hospitalization and a long, tiring journey, Mattia Maestri, the patient ézero in Italy, speaks for the media for the first time as he relates how he won the battle in front of the Coronavirus.

These two months have been shocking, far more than unimaginable, just like a movie. Suddenly I got sick, came a step away from death and was resurrected. My family was infected. My wife and mother recovered, but the unknown virus killed my father. Giulia, our first daughter, was finally born. I learned to resist and believe in the difference between faith and utopia.”, he said of the Republic. As Mattia turns back in time, she relates that on February 17, she had a high fever, which forced her to appear in the hospital. After visiting the doctor, the latter gave him an antibiotic and advised him to return home.

After two days, however, his condition only deteriorated, and he was again forced to go to the hospital. There doctors told her that her lungs have been severely infected. No one knew what was happening to him until an anesthesiologist remembered to take the COVID-19 test, even though no case was reported back then in Europe. After being admitted to Kolonia, 38-year-old was taken to Pavia Hospital, where he remained in a coma for 20 days.

I've been in a coma watching death in my own eyes, but now I see the sun”, described the most critical moment the Italian patient had. It was difficult for him and the fact that when his wife was infected, she was in her eighth month of pregnancy, but fortunately everything went well, the girl came to life safely. According to him, what will remain a mystery is who infected him with COVID-19.
