Corleone War, BB divides $20m for Albania

The World Bank has approved a first $1.9 billion fund for 25 countries in Europe and Central Asia.

World Bank Executive Director Greta Minxhozi, during a television promotion, said the beneficiary of these funds is also Albania.

She added that she is working with the Ministry of Finance and Health teams to determine priorities and that preparation of projects is a matter of days.

“Puna for preparing Albania's specific programme has begun and has intensive communication between teams of the World Bank and the Ministry of Finance and Health for preparing priorities to be included in the programme, as well as other technical details. The conditions these programmes are preparing are an unprecedented case. It could roughly amount to 20 million funding for emergency needs «for the health system”, Minxhozi said.

She added that, in addition, restructurings of existing BB projects in Albania can be made, to free funds from these projects, and to be used for emergency health.

According to Minxhozi, they are working with very high intensity and it is a matter of days and weeks for the projects to be completed.

“This is a project and there is a component that can be for preparing emergency hospital equipment, another component may be for further reforms. The component's definition is in the hands of government and BB teams. With the definition of the projects being supplied with flexibility in the action to evolve the situation according to the” needs, she clarified. / ATSk/
