During times of crisis, such as trying around the world to fight COVID-19, close co-ordination between allies and partners with equal minds is essential for developing a rapid and effective response. None of us can do this alone,” said US Ambassador to Turkey David Sutterfield.
On behalf of the US government, I want to thank our Alliance of Turkey in NATO for today's generous donation of medical supplies and other essential equipment. ”
Sutterfield noted that the donation is planned for distribution later in the day via Turkish military aircraft A-400M at Andrews Air Force Base near Washington, D.C.
It includes equipment such as N95 masks, dress and facial shields.
He stressed that the donation will be distributed to those most needed in the US by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
“As this shipment shows, the US-Turkey relationship is strong and one of our most important alliances,”, the ambassador said. “We look forward to continued co-operation with Turkey for this and many other bilateral priorities. ”
Turkish Armed Forces aircraft have also recently distributed health supplies to Spain, Italy, Britain, Serbia, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, northern Macedonia, Montenegro, Libya and Somalia.
America continues to lead with the number of infected and dead worldwide, according to World Meters, the United States has 1,010,507 infected, 56,803 victims and 139,162 victims.
