Philip Kahn is the oldest veteran in Nassau County, New York, according to his family and has been afraid that another pandemic would happen in his life, grandson Warren Zysman told CNN, Klan Kosova reports.
There was something he said quite often. Every time I had conversations with him he would tell me: “I told you that history repeats itself, 100 years is not a period of”
Kahn and his brother Samuel were born on December 5, 1919. His brother died a few weeks later.
The 1918 flu pandemic, caused by a virus known earlier as the Spanish <x0ndgrip”, is estimated to have killed more than 50 million people worldwide and about 675,000 people in the United States alone, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
