Maksim Gareev, 33, an IT expert, will serve the sentence in a Russian prison colony after acknowledging he killed 24-year-old Ekaterina Semochkina.

Garayev told investigators that he attacked the girl after insulting his financial position, sexual abilities and personality after the paid sex.

The girl's body was found in her apartment last July. Her neck was broken and she had knives in her chest.

The girl's mother, Olga Semochkina, told the court she went to her daughter's apartment after not answering her phone.
