The United Nations Children's Assistance Fund (UNICEF) stressed that washing hands with soap is extremely important in the fight against the new coronavrus (COVID-19), but that three billion people worldwide do not have sinks in their homes to wash their hands with water and soap.
According to a statement from U NICEF, around the world, three out of five people in their homes have no chance of washing their hands.
The statement also notes that 40 percent of the world's population - three billion people - do not have sinks in their homes to wash their hands with water and soap, and about three quarters of people in less developed countries lack this basic need.
Among other things, the statement emphasizes that one third of schools worldwide are free of handwashing sinks and that 16 percent of health centers lack functional toilets and sinks.
