Satellite images published by NASA and the European Space Agency reveal the impact it has brought on pollution levels in China due to the country's closure due to the coronary.
Production in many factories has been halted and transportation was limited to preventing the spread of the virus in the country.
Images taken from January 1-20th show higher levels of nitrogen dioxide in the air. But by 1025 February, gas tracks are hard to see.
“This is the first time I've seen such a dramatic collapse over an area of size for a specific event,” said Fei Liu, air quality researcher at NASA's Airspace Centre Goddard.
