Kosovo's capacity in the face of corruption

The University Clinical Centre of Kosovo (QKUK) currently has about 500 available beds, with the possibility of doubling as necessary, for clinical management of cases with COVID-19, health ministry officials confirm. According to them, after announcing the state of emergency health in Kosovo, a number of clinics at KKUK have been converted into clinics where only cases [...] are handled.

The University Clinical Centre of Kosovo (QKUK) currently has about 500 available beds, with the possibility of doubling as necessary, for clinical management of cases with COVID-19, health ministry officials confirm.

According to them, after announcing the state of emergency health in Kosovo, a number of clinics at KKUK have been converted into a clinic where only coronary cases are handled.

Faik Hoti, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, tells Radio Free Europe that only the Infectious Clinic has 125 beds, a 40-bed isolation department, linked to central oxygen and an intensive treatment room with 6 beds.

But, after a show of cases with COVIDD-19, the entire Infectious Clinic has been converted into a clinic that only handles cases with COVID-19 and has mobilised a greater number of respirators, but so far, there has been no need to be used. Also, in the function of clinical management of cases with COVIID-19 available are all the beds of the Pulmology Clinic, the Dermavenerology Clinic, the Immunology Clinic, and the new object of Sports Medicine, which has a capacity of 100 beds and linked to central oxygen”, Hoti said.

New Respirators, April and May

According to Hoti, there are currently 142 respirators in Kosovo, 95 of them found in the public sector and 47 in the private sector. QKUK, currently owns 68 respirators, while another 27 are located in general hospitals.

The Minister of Health of the Government of Kosovo, Arben Vitita, on March 21st, has declared that private hospital management has made their capacities available to be used in the function of managing the situation with the new coronary, if necessary. He has also stressed that he has ordered new respiratories.

We've ordered 50 new respirators and we're waiting for some, one in April, one in May”, Vitita said.

Health Ministry officials have confirmed that 50 new respirators have been shared budgetary vehicles.

According to them, if the procedures go according to predictions, half of this number of respiratories are expected to come to Kosovo at the end of April, meanwhile, the other half at the end of May.

According to the Health Ministry, so far, the Medieval Microbiology Laboratory of the National Public Health Institute (IKSHP) has tested 732 suspicious samples in COVID-19. There are about 900 more pounds available.

This minister has announced that, within days, there are between 4,000 and 7,000 new pounds. According to this ministry, the contract has been signed and it is a matter of hours or days for most of them to be available to IKSHK.

Health Ministry officials say there is also a major commitment by local contributors from the pharmaceutical sector to help with protective tools and medical equipment.

Kosovo's government has earmarked over 10m euros for implementation of the Freewill and Response Plan for COVID-19, of which 6.2m euros have been made available for immediate spending.

Treatment of medical personnel for the Coronavirus

The spread of the COVIED-19 virus has taken many states by surprise because it is a new Corona family virus and with many unknown to science in the world.

Health Ministry officials say that they take into account the challenges of other states in managing the new coronary, Kosovo with the help of the World Health Organisation (OBSH), as well as in the implementation of the recommendations of this organisation and the European Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (ECDC) in Kosovo, with the drafting of the preparedness and Response Plan against COVID-19, personal health training began.

Training according to them has first started with personnel at the QKUK Infectious Clinic, and then other services such as emergency services, anesthesiology services and intensive treatment, as well as personal at primary health care levels or the Family Medical Centers in the country's municipalities.

Health Ministry officials have not revealed the number of doctors and nursing staff who are trained for diseases, such as the new choreography.

But, the ministry's spokesman, Faik Hoti, has stressed that “the entire personal of the Infectious Clinic has been trained to establish protective measures, manage suspicious cases and clinical management of cases, take and send samples for RT- PCR on IKSHPK”.

He added that he also worked for personal training in other services and municipalities, from epidemiologists, microbiologists, and local infection.

Outside Reliefs

The action plan on Corleone cases, according to Health Ministry officials, has been assessed positively by WHO. The latter, they say, has been involved since the first days to help Kosovo.

Health Minister Arben Vitita, on 17 March, declared it was announced by O The BSH, which <x0m euros in aid has been allocated, will help supply to health institutions at each level. spokesman Hoti says that, too, this week, U n NICEF will bring a large container with protective tools and other medical equipment to Kosovo for COVID-19.

According to him, the Netherlands has brought a aid container through the Kosovo Embassy to The Hague, but with assistance the Government of Italy, Turkey, Project Hope (USA) and other donors have contributed.
