A woman with a weak immune system and a man suffering from chronic illness have died in Baghdad on Wednesday, authorities said.
There have been conflicting reports of the death of a 70-year-old clergyman in the Kurdish region of Sulejmania.
Kurdish officials there have said his death was the result of COVID-19 disease causing the Coronavirus, but the Health Ministry has said that this has not been confirmed.
The World Health Organisation has said that Iraq has reported 34 cases affected by coronarys.
Most of them relate to neighbouring Iran, where the disease has killed 107 people and affected over 3,500 others.
There are concerns that the health system in Iraq would not be able to cope with a major outbreak of the disease after the war years, UN sanctions and corruption.
O The BSH has said last month that the medical infrastructure in Iraq has “some significant gaps”.
