Former head of the Kosovo Economic Ode, Safet Gerjaliu, through his writing on persons, today indicated that the 100% tax on Serbian and Bosnian products is an idea designed in Serbia and implemented in Kosovo.
Gerjaliu wrote that two years of pomp and populism with this tax is an additional waste time that will not come back.
According to him, this tax left negative traces in the political aspect of the intern, where we have a political-OLlantic fight for and against which it can turn into an apple of trouble for unrest, a tax that violates reports with the US and European friendly countries that are also the biggest sponsors of Kosovo independence.
For Gerjaliu, this tax has done damage to the country both economically. He wrote that the tax hit Kosovo's citizen the most.
“found growth in inflation, increased prices of basic products for citizen baskets, reduced competitiveness of products in Kosovaão, lowered local product exports and caused import increases from countries in the region and wider, discouraged foreign investments and investors, damaged diasporas to invest and transform Kosovo into one of the most expensive countries to live”, Gerjaliu wrote.
The former head of OEK added that products imported from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina did not disappear from the Kosovo market, and that this tax only strengthened informality and tax evasion. According to him, there was an increase in imports from Bulgaria, Macedonia, Albania, but also from countries of the former Soviet Union with similar but only retained products.
“These goods, which were paid 400m thanks to this trade maneuver, paid Kosovo's citizens a lot more expensive”, followed.
For Gerjaliu, in terms of tax integration, caused the disruption of dialogue, and Kosovo was caught. He wrote that the very fact that a tax has been rejected by Kosovo's loyal friends testifies to how dangerous this tax has been for today's and the future of Kosovo.
