This depends on the circumstances. Greek authorities must decide and take the right step”, Mamer said at the daily media conference, asked that “A is legal according to EU law for Greece to use plastic anti-refuge bullets?”.
Mamer said the situation at Greece's border is very difficult.
We expect the Greek authorities both to protect the borders, but also to do so in accordance with international law. Greek authorities are in a complicated and difficult situation”, Mamer added.
Last week, Turkish officials announced they would no longer stop refugees who want to go to Europe.
Since then, thousands of refugees have gathered along borders with Greece and Bulgaria, with the goal of reaching European countries.
Turkey's decision came after 34 Turkish soldiers were martyred by forces of Bashar al-Assad's regime in Idlib, Syria, last week.
Turkish soldiers were in charge of protecting local civilians under a 2018 deal with Russia, under which acts of aggression are prohibited in the region.
Turkey, which currently houses about 3.7 million Syrian immigrants, more than any country in the world, says it cannot absorb another wave of refugees.
Ankara has repeatedly complained that Europe has failed to keep its promises under the EU-Turkey 2016 agreement to help immigrants and stem further migration waves.
