Act of Crimes Against Humanity, Violence During War in Kosovo

According to the indictment, defendant Mr. V. As a member of the police forces of Serbia's Ministry of Interior Affairs, in opposition to the rules of international humanitarian law, during the war in Kosovo, on May 22nd 1999, in co-ordination with other members of the Serbian military, police and paramilitary forces, on the territory of the municipality of Vushtrria has participated in the expulsion of the Albanian civilian population, the carrying out of physical and psychic violence against them, and, with the use of violence and other inhumane acts, has committed sexual violation, as part of a broad attack and systematic attack on the Albanian national women.
According to the court, with these actions the defendant, Mr. V. in co-ordination with other members, has committed criminal acts “War crimes against the civilian population” by Article 142 concerning Article 22 of the Socialist Federation Republic of Yugoslavia's criminal law, currently incriminating as the Crime Against Humanity by Article 143 paragraph 1 subparagraph 1.4, 1.6, and 1.7, regarding Article 31 of the Republic of Kosovo's Criminal Code.
