These restrictions have entered into force at midnight, according to local time, and will be implemented in 21 days.
“will be a general exit stop from your homes”, Mod said in his address to the media.
He's been asking people not to panic, but big crowds of people were seen very quickly in all of the Delhi capital store as well as in other cities.
Journalists say it is still not clear how or if people are not allowed out of their homes to buy food and other necessary products.
These new measures come after the rapid rise in new cases with David-19 days. So far there are 519 confirmed cases in India, until 10 more deaths have been reported.
India, which has a population of 1.3 billion, joins a large number of countries that have established similar measures.
Nearly 400,000 people are affected by Covid-19 in the world, while about 17,000 people have passed away.
