The 100 per cent tax on Serbia has exposed the differences between Kosovo's international allies. The United States through their representative, Richard Green, is demanding a full tax evasion. While some EU countries have supported Prime Minister Albin Kurti in his plan for partial exemption of the conditional tax. This has made sure that Kosovo institutions are listed.
That Kosovo should be listed by the US, says political analyst Faton Abdullahu.
“In relation to the removal of the fee, and therefore the matter of reciprocity and dialogue has huge differences in terms of time as well. From Washington we have a political pressure that requires dialogue to be done with Serbia as soon as possible. With what we're being active in this segment, we become part of the geopolitical agenda even in time. So we become part of this geopolitical. Meanwhile, we do not have this urgency from Brussels. Therefore Brussels, not being unique, not supporting the United States, is in no hurry. Meanwhile, it does not rush into the fact that there is no clear policy as to how to do Kosovo further in relation to Serbia. ... History we have witnessed that the U.S. evolution is direct, focused and political energy that enables us to understand that it has an intention and can solve the situation”, he says.
However, analyst Rasim Aliaj expresses his opposition to the norm, since, according to him, partitioning into the two tanks should never be attempted.
“The two jars' partition should never be intended for alignment against one block or another. At least from both blocks, we have a need and no substitute. The relationship with the United States has its own specifications, but the relationship with the EU has its specifications. You don't have to go into the form or the direction of our policy division between the other block or the other. But it must be unique policy and, above all, show wisdom in not creating the narration of partitioning Kosovo politics into such blocks. It's ready, almost even ridiculous and paradoxical to try to create a sodium that we're with the EU and we're not with the EU. It doesn't even stand as a nor does it honor Kosovo”, he says.
Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has unveiled his plan for partial tax evasion last week. The US envoy for Kosovo-Serbia dialogue Richard Green has not welcomed this. He has demanded that the tax on Serbia be completely and unconditionally removed. Unlike him, some EU states have seen this as Kurt's positive step.
