The severe isolation measures will cause gyms, swimming pools, museums and ski centres to be closed in the northern part of the state. Also prohibited will be marriage or burial gatherings.
Italy is the most hit European country by the Coronavirus, and only Saturday did 49 new victims reported, writes “BBC”
The new measures, which include the financial centre, Milan, and the country famous for tourists, Venice, will remain in force until 3 April.
The number of victims in Italy has gone to over 230. In the past 24 hours alone, authorities reported 50 people dead. Meanwhile, the number of infected increased by more than 1200, reaching 5883.
No one will have the right to enter or leave the Lombardy region, where 10 million people live, except emergency cases. Milan is the largest city in this part.
These measures include regions of Venice, parma, and Modenna, with which some 16 million people are affected.
