British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has threatened to close parks unless people keep their social distance.
He urged families to stay away and instead celebrate Mother's Day through Skype and other distant communications.
In a harsh message to the public from Downing Street this afternoon, Johnson said that although he understands the benefits of physical and mental health of open spaces, he would take drastic steps to protect his health.
We need to think about the types of measures we've seen in other countries that have been forced to bring restrictions to all human movements. I don't want to do this because I've tried to explain the benefits of public health,” he said.
The remarks are a rise in pressure from Downing Street, but it is likely to result in increased demands for action that will immediately be carried out in line with other states with some who say it should have already been made.
