Serbian authorities have arrested five people suspected of trafficking over 140 migrants.
The detainees are accused of helping migrants cross Bosnia and Herzegovina's territory, the Serbian prosecution reported.
“Since November last year, a group of suspects smuggled bus migrants from Belgrade to the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina”, the prosecution said, the REL.
According to information from Bosnia and Herzegovina's Security Ministry, in 2019, about 29,000 migrants entered Bosnia.
Migrants aim to cross from Bosnia to Croatia, this European Union member.
Thousands of migrants fleeing war and poverty in their countries have been blocked in the Western Balkans, while seeking to enter the most developed countries of Western Europe.
Officials say most migrants come from war-torn countries in Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and Yemen.
