Al-Qaeda assumes responsibility for attack on US military base in Florida

The Al-Qaeda group on the Arabian Peninsula (AQPA) claimed responsibility for a firearm attack in early December at an American military base in Pensacola, Florida, in which three sailors were killed, the Islamic site SIT reported today. “AQPA claimed responsibility for the attack [...]
“In audio recording of its leader, Casima al Rimi, AQPA claimed responsibility for the December 2019 attack at the Pensacola naval base,” said SITE in a statement.
In its investigation, the FBI determined that Saudi Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Saeed Alshamran acted alone on December 6th in an attack on an American naval base in Pensacola, Florida, before being killed by police.
Alshamran was in military training in the United States and killed three and injured seven others, including two police officers.
Before the attack, he posted hostile messages to the United States, writing on Twitter: “I am against evil, and all America has become a land of evil (...) I'm not against you just because you're Americans, I don't hate you for your freedom, I hate you because every day you support, finance and commit atrocities not only for Muslims, but for all of humanity”
The attack threatened a programme involving the sale of multibillion-dollar American weapons in Riyadh and placed the Saudi monarchy at a disadvantage.
In the United States, about 850 Saudis have been trained each year. Pensacola base, which houses about 16,000 troops, is used by the US Navy to train Allied troops
