Executive Director of the Kosovo Institute for Justice (IKD) Ehat Miftaraj says the recent actions of Prime Minister Albin Kurti could influence lowering the international factor's confidence.
Miftara in an interview for Online Economy has said publishing the 2013 “secret agreement that President Hashim Thaci, prime minister at the time, had pledged to stop the KSF's entry into the north without NATO consent, is a message to the international factor that Kosovo is not ready to take office.
“Such a game of Prime Minister Kurti not only violates trust, credibility of the Republic of Kosovo in relation to NATO and strategic partners, but also lowers the international factor's confidence in whether Kosovo is willing to take responsibility, international obligations and whether the same is able to go out with the same ones to carry out or fulfill their” mandate.
He says that before good such initiatives should be taken into account what consequences can be in terms of security, political in relation to the international factor.
“As the IKD we have said and reiterated political leaders in Kosovo before starting with such initiatives, they should take on the basis of what the consequences might be in terms of security in a diplomatic, political aspect in relation to the international factor and in this case with NATO and KFOR in Kosovo”.
“We have nothing to do with the agreement always by taking the law on ratification of international agreements approved by the Kosovo Assembly”, Miftaraj told EO.
Miftaraj further stressed that this has nothing to do with international agreements because there has been no initiative or any working group to then sign this agreement in the Kosovo Assembly.
There are certainly two completely different issues, but in concrete cases we don't have to do with international agreements with ourselves the fact that we haven't had any initiative by someone to have such an agreement, we haven't had any working group or we haven't had an agreement that was then signed and ratified by the Assembly of Kosovo, and in the end that we would have to receive the blessing that it should be announced in the official newspaper of the Republic of Kosovo, and none of these took place”
Kurti's actions, he calls “the prime minister's”, which is being done for political points.
“We had more to do with a “Soo” of the prime minister who could have long-term consequences in the reports Kosovo international factors which unfortunately all this is being done for political points despite the fact that the elections have ended last year and now we have a government that hasn't even been past the first month.”
“Prime Minister Kurti must understand that I am now prime minister of the Republic of Kosovo, and Kosovo citizens on October 6th of last year have paid the bill to each political party who has ruled in recent years. Kosovo citizens have mandated Albin Kurti to fulfill the mandate to meet his goals that he has put ahead during the campaign, he added.
He says the government should promote Kosovo's interests in foreign policy.
According to him, if that does not happen then Kosovo will also lose the support of strategic countries such as the US and the EU.
And the objectives have been to combat organised crime of corruption, good governance, rule of law, but at the same time what is very important to have good reports and promote Kosovo's interests in foreign policy, and if these do not come about relatively unfortunately at the end of Kosovo, its people and we will not have the mark on us of strategic countries like the United States, the EU and other” states.
