They were located on this hill with the purpose of producing energy, but because of old technology they are not helping the market with production, KTV reports.

During 2018, according to the Energy Regulatory Office, only 17 megawatts hours have been produced from these butterflies.

This, according to Balkan Green Foundation, is very little compared to Kosovo's needs.

The same situation is true of hydro power plants, since according to COST, about 100MW is produced. According to Besfort Kosovo from Balkan Green Foundation, construction of water plants is only destroying the environment.

Meanwhile, for the production of renewable energy, the new government plans to reach the 25% target.

According to the Organization INDEP, this can be accomplished only because wood burning enters the category.

This is an unfair practice because there is nothing permanent about burning wood for heating. Rather, it causes deforestation and destruction of forest and ecosystems of endangered species in Kosovo”, Dardan Abazi of INDEP has said.

While, the Ministry of Economy, Employment, Trade and Strategic Investments has not stated about steps to achieve a greater product of renewable energy.
