President Trump has named US Ambassador to Germany Richard Green on Wednesday as acting Director of National Intelligence.
A White House official told him he would continue to hold the ambassador post in Germany. Richard Green is the envoy of President Trump for Kosovo talks. The president made the announcement late Wednesday in Titter, hours after the news was made known by some American media, the Voice of America broadcasts.
“I am pleased to announce that our highly respected ambassador to Germany, @Richard Grenelli, will become Director of National Intelligence Task. ” “Rock (Richard Grenelli) represented our country extremely well and I look forward to working with it,” wrote President Trump in Titter.
The bridge of the National Intelligence Director serves as a supervisor of the Intelligence Services Community, consisting of 16 different intelligence agencies, the most valuable of which is the CIA.
This office was created after the September 11th 2001 attacks to co-ordinate the work of intelligence agencies. CNN reported that Ambassador Green had long expressed the desire to leave the post in Germany and go to the private sector, or another government post.
Ambassador Green is known as President Trump's strong supporter. The National Intelligence Director's post must be confirmed by the Senate.
It is not clear whether Ambassador Green will get approval to confirm in this post, as many senators have expressed reservations because of his work in Germany.
